The interim stage of my final major project.

Hi!
It’s been a while since I last posted but I have been very busy working away on various collaboration projects and competitions! It has all been very exciting but confidential.
I went on a field trip to New York last week. I LOVED it. The sights were amazing…I just wish I had taken my DSLR! We did all the touristy things - statue of liberty, MoMA, Guggenheim, Museum of Natural History, Empire State, Central Park, Brooklyn (and of course all the toy stores and the m&m store)… and took in the culture around us - good exploring on our part!
Quite the challenge to juggle everything now I am back though, game on.

On Wednesday afternoon we were given the task to design/perform a magic trick. In response, we made a short film to demonstrate a modern, everyday illusion.

I am really looking forward to seeing everyone elses responses to this today (Friday) when we all present - like every 20 year old, I do love a good magic show!!! :)

I moved back to Newcastle a couple of weeks ago and it has been really nice to have some fun and relax with my new flatmates before Uni started again today!

I’ve also done some work for my Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, creating a new logo and updating the website. :)

I have nearly finished my Summer Uni assignment ready for presenting when we get back :-) I have really enjoyed this project.

I have had a very refreshing couple of weeks but now it is time to really knuckle down again. I have always had a keen interest in children’s toys and equipment, so I am trying to get in touch with a company with regard to my University Assignment.

It hasn’t been all dossing about though, I was approached by 2 American companies with regard to some freelance work. I unfortunately had to turn one down but I have completed a couple of illustrative graphics for the other!

I’ve been busy on a few tasks this week: I began to revamp our class website (http://www.lancashireteam.co.uk/dfi12) and I was recently given a fresh assignment from the university for which I need to find and work with a manufacturing company.

I have spent the day collating and working on some Product Analysis that was saved to my University drive. The image above, though it may again have lost some quality, was created scale 1:1 on Graphite and was part of a small user guide I created for my own phone.

Here is a website that has helped me a lot with colours over the past few years: http://colorschemedesigner.com/ I obviously know what looks good, and what doesn’t, but it often leads me to surprising results that I wouldn’t have otherwise tried. Check it out, it’s one of my favourites.

Also, here are a couple of entries that I have submitted to the ‘colour’ photography competition which is hosted by silicon beach training, please do have a look and let me know your thoughts:

And finally, remember that,

“It is not the form that dictates the colour, but the color that brings out the form.”
